Current News: 08/09/09: And today is an example of project being finished sooner rather than later. Paul and I have pulled through and finished The Mouth of Death, a delightfully basic oldschool romp through three different styles of level. ZDoom is used a little however, so it is recommended to use it - jumping and crouching are deactivated anyway. Link is the same as before, so head over there for your updated, full release. 07/09/09: Decided to just get on with something, so I've done my contribution to the 2009 DAC. May be that I do others - may be that the project doesn't actually get released. In which case my map will go out there on it's own again. This ones a Doom2 map, rather than a ZDoom one, so I went for something more functional for the theme. Simple, and only took about 4 hours to make and test, but it works nicely. Would be a good megawad level I reckon anyway. Deadline on the project is November, so we'll know the fate of my map soon enough. If it is released, it'll be listed under contributions. If not, then I'll announce the map here as a christmas treat near christmas day. Progress is going well on my other projects at this time, with at least 3 projects looking to be complete sooner rather than later! 27/08/09: The spiritual successor to Scars of the Wounded Prey is upon us. Claws of the Enraged Beast (Quicky4.wad) has been released, having two difficulty modes, 1 and 2 player support, plus a massive increase in quality over it's predecessor. Go get stuck in! 05/04/09: Joining forces with my younger brother, I have taken part in the creation of a little map - the first in a potential episode made in partnership with him. This is pretty much his first ever Doom map, and all I really did was add to it and teach him how to use DB and add a few effects. Go check it out now and see how things have started. 24/03/09: Developed over the course of a month under an alternate account, this collection of 5 tiny survival-horror themed maps only had about 25 hours of work put in due to how small it is. However Tiny Pack 1 is still a release, and the early map releases on the forums got "Wonoview" some quick respect. Check out the tiny maps section for more information and a download, or wait for it on /idgames. 17/02/09: Minor bugfix to Virus done today, solving a slight texturing error in MAP06. There is also an /idgames upload now, which will probably make its way to /newstuff shortly. Download it here if you want to have the latest version, or wait or it on /idgames. 09/02/09: And the news you've all been waiting for: Virus Episode 1 "Shareware Release" is finished and available for download. Boasting 11 full maps, 2 of which are made by guest mappers hnsolo77 and Mik57, this release allows you to train up for the battle, then rush in at your chosen difficulty, with or without a friend to back you up and battle your way to the Leader for a showdown. Head on over to the Virus page for links and a little more info! 18/11/08: Here's an update for you! First of all, I've basically finished my Community Chest 4 map entry (this time MAP03). Barring any errors or good suggestions, I consider the map done (I will probably be looking into music for it though). Secondly Captain Ventris over at the ZDoom forums has been making ZDoom Wars for a while now and the latest version is quite stable (only a few bugs remain) and he's now moving onto adding modules for additional gameplay elements. As I've made a Virus faction for him, it's getting a mention in Contributions, go there to find out more! 14/10/08: Not a new project as such, I have finished copying and correcting my Monster Spriting for Amateurs tutorial, and have added a new tutorial section to my site (under Contributions). If I write any more tutorials, they will also be found there (and mentioned here). Hopefully this guide to making Doom sprites using my methods will be of use to the Doom Community. 12/08/08: Bit late (sorry), but Ten Community Map Project has been released by the ZDoom Community. Check the Contributions section for the link and a breif description. Action packed levels await! 06/08/08: The Virus: Episode One 3 map demo has been released. Something of an entirely new game, in the ZDoom engine. Go and get a taste of what is to come now, and then wait for the rest later! 14/07/08: Coils of the Twisted Tale has been released! An entire 10 map episode in one map, single player only adventure, complete with some bonus background story in the form of a text file included in the .zip file. Find out now how the tale ends! 10/07/08: ZPack has reached some form of official release, so it's been put into the contributions section, complete with a /idgames link. Expect Quicky2 (Coils of the Twisted Tale), soon! 04/06/08: Layout changes and a few other minor aesthetic changes made today, just because I felt that it'd look better this way, and I've made proper articles for all of my wads on the zdoom.org wiki now. Hopefully a new release within the month! 20/04/08: Start of something industrious! Justice - Infernal Mechanics has been released (Quicky3). Where's 2? Well, its coming, but it wasn't as quick as I'd hoped. 6 days of development spread over about 3 weeks, with 2 new weapons and a load of new monsters too! Go download it! 06/12/07: Ok, little bit late, but oh well, I've been busy - Community Chest 3 has been released, so I've made the Contributions page a proper list of released projects that I've contributed to past testing or ideas (ie. making a map). As the other wads I've contributed to get released, I'll make a note of it here and update the page appropriately. Expect that link to always be at the bottom of the list, as it's not really my released projects. Aside from all of that, I may have a new solo project released at some point soon... finally replace Twisted Joke as my most recent release, after a year! 16/09/07: More scrapped projects, as I've decided to focus on one in particular now that I've finished a lot of different contributions (still waiting for a good reason to update the contributions page - shouldn't be long now). However, the water resource wad now has a build which I can release, which is sporting a demonic, exploding starfish in addition to everything it had before. I may still work on that one day, but for now its a closed book. Hopefully I can really stick to the project I have in mind now, and get it done. 11/06/07: Not much of a news update, but as I've scrapped a couple of projects due to group uninterest, myself and a rather good decorate specialist (Bouncy) have a monster to release, the Sabreblade. It's got it's own page for now, but it will become the projects contributed to page when CC3 is released (whenever that is). 03/03/07: Twisted Joke updated to have 4 player co-op, tested with two players, works fine, and ammo is good too. Plans are, once CC3 is finished and released later in the year, to have a "projects contributed to page" which will obviously include CC3. 26/02/07: Scars of the Wounded Prey has recieved yet another update, this time gaining the ability to handle 2 player co-op. This is the last work I intend to do on it, and can be downloaded from the page now. 20/12/06: Well, it's nearly christmas, and I've made a map for it. Get an early present from me now, get Twisted Joke. 1/11/06: And after another week of sitting on my hands, I finally fixed the bugs found, and added a 'normal;' difficult mode to Scars too. 24/10/06: After two weeks of quiet development, Scars of the Wounded Prey is released. 15/06/06: Warpzone is completed and released at long last! 02/04/06: White Light now hosted on the website, check it out soon. (Totally unannounced, I know) 17/02/06: Scourge V1.2 finally finished today. MAP31 replaced with a smaller, more fitting map. Also, I've utilised several Zdoom tricks and lumps to create a more immersive story and a scripted cast-call map. Work on renovating the old MAP31 (Warpzone) and continuing the Water Resource Wad will restart soon. 13/11/05: Scourge updated to remove the demon sound and sort out sky2 again. Also, hosting moved around a fair bit due to the original place of hosting not being capable of handling such a load. 12/11/05:Website now up and open for business! 12/11/05: Scourge is finally finished! Website desgin started today, so as I could host Scourge and any future projects I finish and present information on any projects that I intend to release. (Yes I do realise I'm putting up news before I've actually finished the site.) |
